Pros: No brainer setup and management
Cons: File server is slow compared to Netgear GigaDrive or Cheap NT Box
The Bottom Line: Buy one if you get a good deal on it. You get very portable, affordable storage added to your LAN in a small, easy to use box.

| jwhowa's Full Review: Quantum Snap Server 12000 (5325301322) 75 GB Hard ... |
Bottom line, this product does what it says it does, no more, no less. In 5 minutes, you can add 40GB storage to your NT/NFS/Novell/Apple based network with a web gui that even the most rank beginner can understand. The DOWN side is that it's a poky server compared to competitor Netgear or building an NT server from spare parts. I'd suggest this product if you can get a deal on one, but I wouldn't pay retail, I'd get a Netgear GigaDrive instead. MUCH MUCH faster network performance.
On the plus side, I experimented and found a way to upgrade the 40GB Snap 1000 to 80GB very easily. I bought a run of the mill 80GB hard drive, and upgraded the Snap 1000. If you're interested, documentation on how to do it is here: http://technodaddy.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=2
