Pros: Great taste and good price make this candy a home run.
Cons: None to speak of.
As is usual among most Americans of the 21st century I love chocolate and all of its flavors, styles, and combinations. But snickers takes the cake. By achieving just the right balance of chocolate, peanuts, caramel, and nougat Mars company has once again surpassed expectations.
The taste of a candy bar is obviously the most important aspect of the bar itself. Without a good taste and mix, no one would want to buy it. Snickers contains a fantastic mix of flavor from the soft nougat and chocolate to the tougher center of nuts, snickers is a top of the line bar. Also, if eaten at just the right tempurature, such as just above room temperature, the candy will almost literally melt in your mouth as you chew.
Well we can't expect the glorious taste of the snickers without being prepared to chew up a few calories as well. At 280 calories and 14 grams of fat, which is 22% DV, don't over indulge. Snickers is not an every day candy bar, but a treat for when you are proud of yourself or feeling down. There is also 35g of carbs. 30 of those being sugar which just proves my previous point.
Snickers is filled with pleny of good tasting, albiet unhealthy, ingredients. From the big stuff like milk chocolate and peanuts, to the less noticable like skim milk or salt. There is also an allergy warning in bold lettering that besides the lactose and peanut allergies, Snickers bars may also contain almonds so be careful to anyone with nut allergies.
On the back of every snickers bar is included a definition of a snickers related word. These words were obviously invented as a joke but snickers pulled it off. I often catch myself laughing at the word and its definition well after having read it. My most recent word was peanutopolis meaning "A state of mind making you feel very strong and powerful, almost mayor-like." a great word if I've ever heard one.
If there is one thing that will set off a good chocolate lover, it is a hard to open wrapper. You know the ones that take two grown men to tear and if it does tear it stops at the beginning of the bar leaving you feeling as if you've wasted all that work. Snickers has no such problem. Every wrapper is easy to open with little effort, allowing the instant-gratification we all know and love from our candy.
Now answer me this, would you expect a candy bar of snickers quality and taste to be sold cheap? NO! But it is. At the measly price of 65 cents, or 50 cents or less if you find it on sale, it is easily worth the price of admission.
