Pros: Some good nutritional value; taste is good
Cons: Limited distribution
I have always liked the taste of coconut especially fresh coconut juice, so it's not surprising that I have somehow convinced myself that pina coladas are good for me. The mixture of coconut cream and pineapple juice is a good thing in my book. Adding the rum is even better. Still, I can't always indulge in the alcoholic side of the beverage. Thankfully, SoBe Liz Blizz Pina Colada is there to satisfy my craving without feeling guilty or drunk.
SoBe Liz Blizz Pina Coloda is part of the Lizard Line coming in attractive 20 fl. oz (591 mL) glass bottle. The lizard logo is catchy and fun indicating that this drink should be thought of in the same manner. I usually notice this product more than the others because I can see the colour of the contents through the glass. The creamy, white liquid definitely stands out from the rest and it makes me pause to think if I'm getting juice, milk, or some sort of combination of the two.
The flavoured beverage has a blend of echinacea, zinc and Vitamin C. The combination of these three ingredients is a good way to combat the common cold. Enchinacea, extracted from the root or whole plant, has been said to help reduce cold symptoms at the first sign of cold. It won't prevent it, but will cut down on how long that cold will last. Zinc is an essential element, necessary for sustaining all life. Vitamin C is used as a highly effective antioxidant. In essence, it's almost a good thing to have a bottle of Lizz Blizz Pina Colada nearby on hand.
But as much as I like the taste, I don't buy it as often as one would think. Sometimes, too much of a good thing can make a person hate it over time. I like to treat myself with this drink. Also, it isn't readily available at every supermarket or local corner store.
Those with a sweet tooth will probably like this taste. The sweetness is accounted for by the combination of hibiscus and high fructose corn syrup. While the former has some nice medicinal qualities to it, the latter is just added for more punch. It really isn't necessary to have but it was designed to increase the sweetness factor of the fructose content.
Unlike the Power Line, there is no trace of caffeine in this drink. This is really meant more for relaxation and fun rather than boosting one's energy. Keep in mind, too, that there is milk content included within the ingredients. Those who have an allergic reaction to dairy might want to steer clear away, as indicated by the skim milk and cream. The funny thing is that the two main proponents for pina coladacoconut cream and pineapple juiceare non-existant. Simulated flavours have come a long way.
I really enjoy SoBe Liz Blizz Pina Colada whenever I get to indulge myself in its taste and flavour. It really does have a calming effect on me when I'm at work, especially near the end of the day after running around like a buffoon. Now I just need to sneak in some rum to make the journey complete.
