A true thriller... with heart
Written: Jan 7, 2000
Rated a Helpful Review by the Epinions community
Pros:Solid plot and characters, touches upon more sensitive issues not usually addressed in suspense novels, heart warming ending
Cons:none
As I've said before in other Koontz reviews, every book of his is a masterpiece, but there are maybe four or five that shine above all the rest. This is one of the Koontz greats. It's full of mystery, suspense, thrilling moments... but most uniquely to the suspense genre, it's main focus seems to be on love, raw human emotion, and religion.
This book is solid straight through, with real 3-dimensional characters, and an excellent, mystery / suspense filled plot. However, I recommend this more for those of you who have already read a few other Koontz books and enjoyed them thoroughly. For someone who has never read any of his books before, I feel that reading one of his others (Intensity, Fear Nothing or Dark Rivers of the Heart) will draw you in more to this author, and set you up for being able to better appreciate the more emotional / religious aspects Koontz begins to deal with in this novel.
