Pros: doesn't leak; doesn't melt in the microwave; neatly stacks
Cons: lid takes a bit of working to make a tight seal
The Bottom Line: These dishes are great. They're deep, microwavable, leak resistant but not dishwasher safe.
Lid is a bit awkward but following directions helps.

| Donnie013's Full Review: Solo To Go Microwaveable Deep Dish Plates and Lids |
Theres a new kid in the neighborhood and I can tell, soon well be very good friends.
Actually, its not a kid, its a thing and while its difficult being friends with a thing, I can tell you for sure, this thing will be found very often in my home.
Im talking about the NEW SOLO TO GO plates with lids!
Let me tell you a bit about them.
Right before my very eyes, I have a package that contains five plates and lids.
Each plate has a nice grip handle for easy carrying.
My plates are oval measuring 8.94-inches x 10.18-inches. And yes they do come round.
Ill be honest here and didnt believe the claim that they are leak resistant. I had to see for myself. I poured one cup of water in one dish and affixed the cover. I turned it upside down, shook it side to side, held it on its side and IT DIDNT LEAK!
Okay, so, now Im impressed.
Next test: the package says they are microwave safe. I can tell you truly, YES THEY ARE!!
Heres the low-down!
The pluses:
SOLO® To Go with SoloGrips® is made of soft molded plastic (the design is patented).
You can take them from the microwave to the table or in the car for a friends pot luck dinner.
They are microwave safe but if you choose to rinse them, they come out good as new.
They are lightweight so foods heat up quicker and carrying is a breeze.
The minuses:
Dont do what I first did and assume, Its a lid. Just snap it on. FOLLOW the directions. You need to allow your fingers to walk around the lid to ensure a perfect seal.
Yes, it microwave safe but for a total of only four minutes. Longer and it will melt.
Yes, you can rinse and reuse it but it is NOT dishwasher safe.
Its also not recommended for the freezer or oven.
Take a good look at my minuses. Remember this is nothing more than a plastic plate so the minuses are just being practical. I mention them because while this is a new and unique product, I dont want to mislead you and have you think its a wonder dish when it is still only plastic.
Let me just go over my comment about the lid. The lid has a nice tab on it making opening the dish easy. Many other hard-molded items have hard-molded lids you just press and snap on. This lid is more flexible so just pressing it will not give you a tight seal. You really need to walk it around with your fingers as the directions indicate.
The dishes are black (well, mine are, anywhere) and the lids are clear so you can store your food and know exactly whats in each dish.
I am really impressed with these dishes. I received mine on a day when Rich and I went fishing. You know the story, there. We go fishing and when we get home, I order pizza. Not being able to devour the entire pie, I needed something to place the leftovers in. The leftover slices went from the table to the refrigerator to the microwave and back on the table - all in the same dish. What a treat!
Yes I would definitely recommend these.
I want to thank the SCC Grossman company for sending me these awesome places in exchange for my honest review.
