| meleahk's Full Review: Solo To Go Microwaveable Deep Dish Plates and Lids |
In the mail, like so many others, I have received the Solo To Go Microwaveable Deep Dish Plates and Lids. They remind of the containers that Wendy's used for their taco salads and are just as good as the Solo, at least I think so. How can that be you may ask? Well, I shall tell you.
The Product
Solo To Go Microwaveable Deep Dish Plates and Lids are of plastic that is supposed to be microwave safe without any leaking. This is true but only up to about 2 to 2 1/2 minutes as opposed to the suggested 4 minutes (for a 1000 watt microwave). One should keep in mind their own microwaves ability and just how hot it gets while in use. I suppose for some it would be up to 4 minutes 2.
I heated up some pasta in one of these Solo To Go Microwaveable Deep Dish Plates and Lids and found that the food did get hot enough to eat. What was left over I simply put the lid on and snapped the ends to the dish with no problem and put back into the fridge. Easy enough.
They are easy to transport as well if you are not going to put them into a small cooler that is. My husband for instance, takes his lunch to work daily and I thought that he could use these. Well, he can if the food is more of a solid type of food because with a liquid it will seep out since the container will be on it's side. However, turned in the correct way and not over filling the dish, the lids work well for that leak resistant thing.
You can also serve foods in them and put the lids on them later until you want to eat again. They are great to eat out of too.
Other Stuff
Solo To Go Microwaveable Deep Dish Plates and Lids are black bottom and clear lids. The lids being clear allow you to see what is inside, which is a helpful. They will sale for about 2.39 to 2.59 and will contain 5 dishes and 5 lids.
The patented handgrips are unique in their own way because they fit well on the deep dish and they snap into place with no problems. At least for us there were no problems. I have to admit that I have not seen other containers with these types of lids. Now, one will have to make sure that the lid did actually snap into place or one may have a mess on their hands.
If you are going to use the lid be sure and loosen the lid a little first because this will allows the heat to be more even and not over heat the dish. And be sure and use a dish towel when removing from the microwave because they will get hot. You should not use these in the oven or on your stove top. Since they are plastic, this does make sense.
They are not dishwasher safe (since they are throw away's why would they be?) They are not for use in your freezer either.

How I Feel
Solo To Go Microwaveable Deep Dish Plates and Lids are a new way to take food back and forth and they are convenient for such a task, but, the down fall is for my microwave up to 4 minutes is way to much and for liquids I really don't recommend them in small carry case of any kind.
I do however, recommend them for home use or church use or camping use or barbeque usage and other type uses. They are great for storing left overs in and they are great for sending extra food from church gatherings in. They are also great for cakes and cookies and the like. They are great for fruits and salads too.
While the grand babies were here with me for 2 weeks I used them to store various food items in. In fact, we found that color crayons go inside these Solo To Go Microwaveable Deep Dish Plates and Lids very well and with the lid, make a great noise maker for babies! Just ask Jakob and he will tell you that he loved them! We also found that the baby dolls clothes would fit well in them and this made Jordan very happy. And not to be out done by his baby sister and baby brother, Alex found that his cars when well in them. So they each had one to do what they wanted to with them. So I also recommend them for various small toys and traveling. Give each kid one, put their name on it and maybe you will have a nice ride.
The lids are easy to attach as well and remove. The children enjoyed them as well because they were able to eat from them. I didn't throw them away because they were handy little things for those 2 weeks while the grand babies were with me. A simple wash with warm water and dish soap did the trick. They are easy to store out of the way.
Now back to the big question at hand. How do I find these Solo To Go Microwaveable Deep Dish Plates and Lids similar to the Wendy's Taco Salad Bowls? Simple. They are almost the same type of material with the same type of concept. And since I usually keep the containers from the taco salads anyway just in case I need them for food storage, or for heating foods up or sending foods home with others, I will most likely not buy to many of the Solo To Go Microwaveable Deep Dish Plates and Lids for that reason. On the other hand, should I need more such type containers than what I have on hand then I would buy them. I do believe though, that I will buy some for the church to use in the fellowship hall.
Just heat, eat and toss! Just like the packaging says! I find this to be pretty much true.
I hope that this has helped in some kind of way.
I received these Solo To Go Microwaveable Deep Dish Plates and Lids free from SCC Grossman for my honest review.
God Bless!
