Pros: simple design, rugged, easy to use, great support
Cons: not free weights.
The Bottom Line: if space restrictions are a concern, I'd buy it.

They say the best exercise machine is one that you'll actually use. My wife just reminded me the other day that I've been using the soloflex for 7 years, so I guess it counts.
I agree that the list price for this product is a little bit high. If you use it, I guess you won't care after the credit card is paid off. I picked mine up used. I think anyone familiar with popular culture knows how Soloflex works, but here's the short feature set.
Soloflex uses elastic bands for resistance on a frame that holds a bar, a bench, and various attachments. Resistance is increased by adding more bands, or optionally, freeweights. There are optional attachments for butterflies or leg extensions.
The resistance and the movements are different than free weights. I frankly find free weights give me a better work out experience, but I have space restrictions in my workout area, and didn't want to have a bar and plates all around.
It works in my area.
Back in my younger days, I was working out with higher weights, and found the limitation of 400 pounds of bands on the squats and presses a little bit limiting, but that can be augmented with free weights. I've mellowed now, and don't want that kind of weight on me.
One additional purchase I would recommend. Soloflex has a storage rack for all of the goodies, plates, bars, accessories. 5 stars for that puppy. Pick it up.
Finally, all exercise products break (free weights excluded). Soloflex has great customer service, and all parts are available for order. The simple design of the product makes repairs a no brainer.
If it was a perfect world, it would have been free weights for me. But I don't have the space here, and I don't have the motivation to drive to the gym at 5AM. Soloflex has been a succesful compromise for me.
