The Bottom Line: The Soloflex has been around unchanged for a long time. That should say it all.

| affentheater's Full Review: Soloflex |
I bought my Soloflex about 16 years ago. I've used it fairly inconsistently during that time, in on-again-off-again cycles, not because of the SF but because of "life".
I've read the other reviews with great interest. It seems to me that if you're an absolutely fanatical bodybuilder, this isn't for you - but if like me you're a desk jockey who would rather do something than nothing, it works surprisingly well.
PRO:
-Small footprint, elegant design, rock solid construction
-Easy to change exercises and resistance
-Absolutely safe to use, no spotter needed
-Effective; you will see and feel real results if you stick with the program
-No noise, at least not compared to free weights
CON:
-Instruction booklet lumps exercises into frustrating groupings that require changing attachments and bench back and forth.
-Tippy with leg attachment ( solved this by putting two 45lb dumbbells across the mainframe bar )
-Rubber straps work well, but are not lifetime warranty as one reviewer states, only 5 years. While that's not bad, they are too expensive.
-No shipping confirmation, no contact at all from SF if you buy something online from them. I complained about this years ago and they still don't even bother to tell you whether your shipment has even left the warehouse. I ordered a set of replacement straps a week ago and have heard nothing, and have received nothing. In these days of shipping confirmations and tracking numbers that is absolutely inexcusable.
OVERALL: I would buy it again. I have noticed a significant improvement in my body strength and muscle mass, and weight loss, every time I have used it for several weeks or months, and this in the privacy of my own home, without wasting time driving to the gym and then waiting for equipment to become available. Not to mention the pleasure of knowing I'm not inadvertently sharing someone else's bodily fluids.
COMMENTS ON OTHER REVIEWERS: One reviewer mentions something I also pointed out in my "cons" above - that you have to change attachments and bench often if you follow the routines as they are laid out by Soloflex. So, the first thing I did was to group exercises by muscle group AND by equipment configuration. Now, unless I am doing dips and pullups, I leave the leg extension on permanently and don't have to switch nearly as often.
