Pros: Good fly catcher, no-see-um/gnat control, catches lovebugs!
Cons: mosquito control
The Bottom Line: I do NOT recommend Sonic Web if you seek BITING insect control. It is a pretty good fly catcher, but you can get an equal for much, much less.

| mobileman's Full Review: SonicWeb Biting Insect Control |
I purchased a SonicWebTM by Applica from www.fightthebite.com in May 2003 at the price of $199.80- I also ordered a 4 month supply of catching Web Trap adhesive paper & Octenol strips which brought total costs to about $255.00 with $19.95 shipping fee. Ordering process was easy, and I received it within 6-7 business days by UPS. The product was quite easy to assemble, the main body was already put together, came with approx. 50ft electrical ext. cord with on/off adapter, & one package of 4 Web Trap adhesive papers & one Octenol strip (1 month supply). I put it together following the given product manual and turned it on. It uses 3 lures: heartbeat (LED indicator lets you know it is on), heat, & smell (Octenol)~covers 1 acre of property. I set it up on my pool deck and left it alone until the following day. It collected approx. 10 flies, dozen no-see-ums, and 2 mosquitoes. Weekly it catches about 40 flies, 3-4 dozen no-see-ums, & about 10 mosquitoes. (I live in Mobile, Alabama)
You have to replace the Web Trap adhesive paper every week & the Octenol strip every 4 weeks/30 days. It is weather-proof & runs 24hrs a day. Clean & store it in a safe box when not in use. Portable & lightweight, comes with a 30-day money back guarantee from fightthebite.com when you order, works in every direction- wind & rain. The product is 18 inches tall, plastic, & has a built on handle for easy transportation.
*Studies have shown that Octenol attractant repels the dreaded, very common "day biter" Asian Tiger Mosquito- this device does not use a CO2 tank
Update 7/7/04: I have had my sonic web over a year now and it seems to be doing better. I just changed the sticky paper today and I found a record amount of skitters on it than I ever had with it before. We have had more than average rain though which might be a cause.
