Back when Sonic came out who would have ever thought that eventually it would be playable on a Nintendo console. I remember the "gamepro" magazines with Sonic, Mario, and Bonk from the TG16 all having boxing gloves and duking it out over who would be the winner of the console wars.
Well now you can relive all the fun of Sonic the hedgehog without dragging out the old Genesis system. He is now available on your gameboy advance system. Yes the graphics are a bit reduced but they had to because of the resolution offered by the gameboy advance. This really is only noticable if you use the gameboy advance adapter for the gamecube. There is no obvious loss in speed in this port of a sega Genesis classic. That alone is a real plus because often ports tend to be inferior copies at best. As usual the game is pretty kid friendly. It mostly focuses on speed and reflexes. There is no blood and mostly comical type violence. There are very few puzzles so it can be played by the youngest players on up to the grandparents if they want to. I cannot bring myself to be compulsive about getting all the rings. I just try to finish the different levels. Of course I never have been much for high scores anyway. I play to have fun. And there is a lot of fun to have in this game. There are many pinball type elements in this game such as the spinball move the way you sometimes bounce off the walls. It is truly a game for the whole family and much simpler than many of the next generation titles related to the Sonic franchise.
