Our family has used a Sonicare electric toothbrush for many years. Our old toothbrush finally had the batteries go out after about 10 years of use. My wife bought the Essence E5300 on sale for $49.00. That was a LOT less than we had paid for our older model.

I expected the Essence E5300 to be a lesser quality brush than our older model due to the lower price. I was pleased to find out that it does a much better job of cleaning my teeth than the older, more expensive Sonicare did! My wife has commented on it, too. Our teeth feel much cleaner and look whiter than with our older brush. The cleaning action is much more vigorous and stimulates the gums better than our older model. Even though we changed brush heads regularly on our old brush, it never worked this well!
About the only drawback that I can find on the Essence E5300 is that our old model had Sonicare's "Quadpacer" feature which beeped every 30 seconds to tell you to move to a different are of your mouth. I don't find any real difficulty with this since we have a clock in our bathroom and it's easy enough to time the 30 second intervals yourself.
I would definitely recommend the Sonicare Essence E5300. For the price, it is an exceptional value and really works well for cleaning your teeth and massaging your gums. the replacement heads are no more expensive than the other Sonicare models we have had (A little secret - my wife buys the replacement brushes at Bed, Bath, and Beyond with their frequent 20% off coupons from the newspaper.)
