My dentist originally recommend it to me when discovered that I had deep pockets in my gums. I was using other manual and electric Oral-B toothbrushes, but the sonicare seems to be better at promoting gum health as evidenced by my last check-up. I have been using this product for a year now and my gums are finally getting better - so it is something that you need to keep up.

You need only a very light touch with this product to prevent too much abrasion (import for those with some gum recession - like me). Takes a little getting used to as compared with manual toothbrushes, but easy to use as only a light touch is necessary and less dexterity than manual brush to ensure that you are brushing properly. You only need to angle the head against the gum line and slowly drag across your teeth. The auto timer is preety good feature as it ensures that you are going at the right speed.
In addition, the brush is very noisy and vibrates something awful. That is why I call this the second best toothbrush as the Sonicare Flexcare has less vibration more quiet and seems to leave a cleaner feeling in your mouth. I just switched over and noticed a difference - oh by the way, the heads are also less expensive and the handle itself is lighter.
