Pros: Cleans well, polished and rounded bristles, good manual, brushing instructions need to be followed strictly
Cons: Useless timer function, poor cleaning under "training" mode
The Bottom Line: Buy it and love it. Discharge fully at least once a week to avoid building battery "memory."

| lpn's Full Review: Sonicare Plus Model Pl 3 Sonic Electric Toothbrush |
I have owned every electric toothbrush that was ever made. The worst was the Braun, for being extra abrasive, especially if used poorly, or by carrying over bad technique from the manual era.
The best has been the Sonicare. Coupled with a low abrasion toothpaste such as Rembrandt clear gel, it produces phenomenal results compared to other electric brushes. One needs to remember that the sonic vibrations are conducted by liquid. One can create this liquid by taking a small amount of the clear gel (a 1 1/2 - 2 pea size), smearing it on your teeth, add a large palmfull of warm water and mix. Apply the Sonicare at a 30-40 degree angle so that it touches your teeth lightly and swirl some of the pooled slush to the brush as you use it, not letting it work "dry." Move the blush slowly up and down, paying attention to each tooth and all surfaces. In my opinion, the 2 minute timer is useless, because I have found out that it takes about 2 minutes on each quadrant to properly clean all surfaces. So it takes me 8-10 minutes at night plus flossing. In the morning I do a "quickie", which lasts from 5 to 6 minutes.
On the con side, if proper technique is not followed (i.e. working it "dry", pressing too hard or at a bad angle), it will cause gum recession. Used properly, this is the best thing since sex.
Sincerely,
Peter
