Pros: Puns, jokes, and the undead!
Cons: None.
The Bottom Line: This graphic novel is just fun, funny, and gets better when re-read several times as more jokes are caught.

Are you being harassed by a bloodthirsty mob? Have you been threatened to be staked in your sleep? Are you being sued just for being different? Dead? Undead? If so, you may need to hire Wolf & Bryrd Counselors of the Macabre! Sonovawitch! And other tales of Supernatural Law is a graphic novel by Batton Lash that reprints stories from various Wolff & Byrd comics. Wolff & Byrd is a series of comics around Alanna Wolff and Jeff Byrd who are the premier legal team for the undead, monsters, witches, and other things that go bump in the night. It is a series played for laughs, yet one that follows an internal continuity and the lives of the characters in it. Sonovawitch primarily follows the first ever hexual harassment case. Wolff & Byrd's client is being sued for putting a love spell on an employee of his, Susan, then firing her as she became infatuated with him. Susan's lawyer refuses to believe that it was his mother that cast the spell and that her client was being victimized by the curse. The other stories include the story of Dr. Life, who is being sued for bringing the dead back to life, the personal lives of the characters, a demon, Ygor the hunchback accused of teaching preschoolers Satanism, and a vampire crime cartel...great stuff! Each story is packed with plenty of puns, humor, in-jokes, and many laugh-out-loud moments. Batton Lash is a smart writer who makes interesting characters that you care about, plus many great funny situations to put them in, often in the court room. Some of my favorite moments include Mavis, their secretary, and how she deals with the clients in the waiting room! The art is black & white, and done by Batton Lash. The art nicely fits the tone of the book, with art that is somewhat reflexive of Archie comics at times, but with a more serious tone and demeanor. Lash is great with expression in this format, and great with timing, pacing, and punning. If you like puns, jokes, or just lawyer humor or the undead, then I highly recommend this graphic novel. This graphic novel is just fun, funny, and gets better when re-read several times as more jokes are caught. _______________________________________________________ Title: Sonovawitch and other tales of Supernatural Law Publisher: Exhibit A Press Writer/Artist: Batton Lash Issues Reprinted: Various issues of Wolff & Byrd, Counselors of the Macabre, and Mavis #1.
