grahamwhite's Full Review: Sony Alpha DSLR-A200K (Digital Camera with 18-70 m...
I have finally joined the SLR Digital camera age. It took me a long time to figure out what one I wanted and the price I was willing to pay. I finally settled on the Sony A-200 kit which suited my needs.
I have had a film SLR camera for years and was pretty familar with it so I wanted to go digital but not too advanced. The Sony seemed the logical choice for me because it is a easy camera to use. I would say in the automatic mode it is as easy as using a point and shoot. At 10.2 mega pixels the quality looks fantastic. The detail that the lense picks up compared to my point and shoot Sony at 8.1 mega pixels. It also seemed that when Sony designed the SLR cameras they made sure the function buttons and menus were simalar.
The camera has plenty of the standard shooting modes for all types of conditons just like the film cameras. I noticed though in the close up mode it did have a little bit harder time to focus than my film camera but that is it so far. All in all I would say this is a great starter SLR camera for the beginner or advanced novice.
