Pros: 10/10 when this works
Cons: -10 when not working (NO-MORE-SONY-AFTER-THIS-AND-ROOTKITS-THAT-COST-ME-$$$-TO-REMOVE)
The Bottom Line: Get a warranty that offers a REPLACEMENT for at least 1 year on this otherwise donate your money towards a good cause - you won't feel like you got robbed-by-Sony-in-the-end-then.

| mikeanderson30's Full Review: Sony CCD-TRV138 Hi-8 Analog Camcorder |
I basically am going to agree with the Lemon review. It just is not stable but when it does work, its great. Way more than enough connections on the back and great menu features just the thing will not function properly. I got this when it was first released and maybe thats the difference between mine and the other people out there who gave this a good review. Maybe Sony realized something wasn't properly configured/assembled and revised it. But anyways I wanted to list my problem and if anyone else has similar problems please speak up, especially you found a fix.
The basic problem I keep experiencing is the system will be on (doesn't even need to be powering any speakers at all) then all of a sudden you will hear a loud pop (even with volume set to very low) then the system shuts down. A few minutes later to maybe an hour or more later, the system will start up and give a error message regarding a power protection message(will have to retrieve this expensive paperweight from storage to get exact message).
I tried multiple different tests such as changing out the speakers, wires, using different electrical outlets, testing different sound inputs, adjusting settings on the receiver, testing different speaker inputs, all with no luck.
