chinobling's Full Review: Sony CDX-M7810 Car CD/ MP3 Player
I upgraded to this unit, after finding out my JVC KD-G710 didn't have RCA/Inputs (Had a roof mount dvd/monitor coming). It is a overall good unit. I enjoyed the display, and the color of the illumination. The sound quality of the deck is excellent, especially with the DSO option raising the soundstage to where your ears are. The setup controls can be a little overwhelming at times, with seperate menus available for all sources. Includes a nice remote with good functionality... So what's the catch? I've gone through 2 of these so far.
Deck #1: Installed it, went smoothly, until it was time to test the unit. The deck would not accept/read any sort of cd, be it audio cd's, burnt audio cds, and mp3 cds. After struggling for 45 minutes, it just decided to work, and proceeded to load cd's... I heard the audio playing and thought everything was all good... Wrong. I switched the source to Tuner, and heard absolutely nothing, not even static... and yes the antenna was hooked up. So I troubleshoot for another hour, finally gave up and exchanged it the next day for the exact same model.
Deck #2:, smooth install, really quick cause CC let me keep the existing sony harness I had. Everything went off without a hitch, so I'm cruising with my new tunes. On the way home from work, BOOM, radio goes to static, I hear a static'y talk show on the speakers. I try and switch stations, and every station had the same static'y show on... Crap. When I get home, my mobile DVD monitor had arrived, so I'm installing that, disconnect batteries, cutting and dropping my headliner, fishing rca cables..,etc., get everything ready to go, Re-hookup battery, and AGAIN, no sound from the Tuner source.
I loved the deck when it worked, but I need stability and my tuner, so I'm going in to exchange it for a different brand.
I buy locally because of these types of issues. Circuit City has never second guessed my judgment on my returns.
