MP3 is nice;But the price is not right!

Pros: Nice sound, lot of features
Cons: Controls too touchy,skips,display fades
The Bottom Line: Nice sound with the Sony but there are cheaper stereo's with better spec's(Alpine, Blaupunkt) just to name a few.A little too buggy for me.I say keep shopping

I was looking for a mp3 player when I came across this online.It seemed to have plenty of power and a lot of features that I was looking for;XM radio,seperate cd player control,sub woofer control ,DSO. I was particulary interested in the DSO which stands for Dynamic Soundstage Organizer for my pickup which only has the speakers in the doors and the dash and I was hoping it would help the sound.I had a Sony before that had it and it really made a lot of difference.Unfortunately this version only raises the sound frequencies to make it seem like the speakers are located "higher" than they really are.It does'nt move the sound around to fill any voids.This radio does have a nice sound but I have had trouble with it reading burned mp3's.It usually happens right after hitting a large bump.I guess the anti shock is not what it is cut out to be.I really dont like where they put the laser either.When the cd tray is open the laser is right there, and it's not something you want to mess with as it seems to get dirty really easy.Also the knobs are easily jarred (esp. in a pickup);which results in changing the settings and that can be a real problem while your driving.(The sound volume also controls DSO, equilizers,bass,etc...).If you use the included remote thats really not a problem but I dont like holding it all the time.The display is nice in the fact that it can change colors but I have noticed it faded almost the next day after I installed it.The red is now almost a pale shade of pink/orange which is a shame because it was really pretty before.
