Thanks for taking the time to comment in detail on my review. Let me try to answer a couple questions ...

Support of higher resolution is actually a multifacetted issue, as you highlighted. Full support would be that everything profits from the high resolution. Well, those apps are not too many, granted.
However, software like the Stockmanager, is sort of supporting the highres by drawing the graphs a lot more detailed. This is the most common benefit for majority of supporting software.
No-support in my eyes means either Incompatibility or absolutely no benefit from the screen's capabilities. Incompatibility is easy to avoid by setting the preferences accordingly.

The section about Software is relatively extensive due to the marketing trick of writing all the demos in the advertisement without mentioning that it's really just the stuff (mostly) that one can download off the internet.

Hardware differences between the 710 and the 610 make me wonder if you actually refer to the limited-time-offers that included a memory stick with the purchase of a C710. According to Sony's website, this is not the standard option and therefore not considered by my review.
Further, the operating system is version 4.0 in either model. Interesting thought that the new model 760 sports a version 4.1, which not even Palm offers. (Guess it's a customized version.)

Including all this information about 3rd party software is pretty much sort of a 1-stop-shopping service. Especially since it may provide some starting points for those trying to find the proper software. In the end, a handheld is only as good as it's software ...

Anyway, I do appeciate your comments, and it's certainly helpful to read qualified critizism like yours.

Btw, I added some more hardware details (i.e. case) since your last visit ...

Thanks for the comments back, I am glad I could provide the detail and info you would look for. The question marks are an odd side-effect of simply pasting the text from Word (some symbols get misinterpreted. I will try to eliminate them, but in the odd places they pretty much stand for TM's or other symbols.

This is a good review (Reply to this comment)

but I thought you skirted around a lot of the details and have some minor inaccuracies so after much thought I decided I couldn't give you a VH.

For instance, you say the 610c is identical to the 710c except for the lack of MP3 capability in the 610. This isn't true, as it also has a different OS (OS 4 vs. OS 3.5) and doesn't come with an 8MB MS (the 710c does).

You say that the Clie has all of the standard buttons, but you didn't mention whether you liked the way they were constructed on this device. All Palm OS devices have these buttons, but they are constructed differently, sometimes with slightly different layouts, on each device.

You mention you get 15 days of use on a single charge without much backlight use, but unless I know how often you use the device that isn't terribly helpful. Your 15 days could be my 3 days or someone else's 50 days. You also have an asterisk there as if you are planning on adding a footnote but I don't see anything at the end of the review. Perhaps you meant to add this additional information and forgot?

You say most applications support the Sony higher resolution. I would ask you what applications you are trying, for it is my experience that very few support it. Many applications that don't support it may work on the device, but 160x160 applications that work and 320x320 high resolution applications are very different things.

I also thought you spent an awfully long time talking about software for a hardware review. It's one thing to talk about compatibility issues or software that is included in the Sony ROM that isn't in other Palms, and quite another to list your favorite applications or even the list of all demos that ship on the CD (Every Palm comes with a fairly lengthy list of demo software that isn't in the ROM. These are generally identical to the downloadable versions at PalmGear and elsewhere.). In a few of the places where it might have been nice to talk about Sony-specific software you glazed over it - for instance you say the calculator is different but provide no details.

Love the detail (Reply to this comment)

Excellent level of detail in this very thorough review. This is pretty much all the information I would need to choose this PDA.

One oddity, though - the text is sprinkled with question marks for some reason. Literally, I mean - the character "?".

Example: "Race Fever? (Digital fiction):"

Any idea why this is happening? Some special character you're using that my browser or PC doesn't understand? Just a minor oddity I thought I'd mention...
