Pros: Good picture, deep blacks, tapered housing for easier fit into corner desks, 1080i capable.
Cons: Somewhat cheap data cable (no biggee), DB15 analog connection only, cheap swivel base.

| kenancy's Full Review: Sony STYLEPRO CPD-E540 21 inch CRT Monitor |
I see some people complain about this CRT, but I just got a used one for cheap and it's fantastic. Reasonably sharp text and picture, good colors and a nice rear tapered housing. The build quality could be a little better, as some have mentioned. The DB15 cable is cheap and permanently attached (no way to add a better one with opening the unit and soldering up one yourself), no other connection options, and the swivel base could be a little sturdier, but does not pose a real problem. But overall the unit is pretty good. Black levels and contrast are awesome compared to any typical LCD screen. Capable of 1080i HD resolution without breaking a sweat if you want to play BluRay on it. Some of the guys who are complaining about this monitor either got duds, or are trying to compare it to screens costing hundreds more (most 21" CRTs usually went for $800-$1200 back in the day, this one was about $600 or so, I think, when it came out). If you are like me and still prefer CRTs over LCDs, and find one of these in good condition for cheap, give it a shot.
