$99 for a burner? I'm one of those cheapies and I don't burn to often. In fact, 4x-6x is satisfactory for me. As far as software goes, Nero usually gets the job right.

Sony does this with many of their products... especially those in the computer peripherals category.

Look at the lackidasical support in their CLIE PDA line.
