"Sony Corp. has temporarily taken six models of Cybershot digital still cameras off the market in China after a provincial government said they failed to meet certain standards.
The Administration for Industry and Commerce tested 34 cameras from six manufacturers that were on sale in Zhejiang province and found that 13 models did not meet specifications, it said in a statement dated Dec. 13. Sony has temporarily halted shipments of cameras.
The cameras included Sony's DSC-H1 and DSC-L1, both of which are made in Shanghai, and the DSC-P200, DSC-W7, DSC-W5 and DSC-S90, also made in China. According to the administration's statement all six models failed to meet specifications for white balance and image uniformity while the two Shanghai-made models also didn't reach the test specifications for automatic exposure and LCD (liquid crystal display) brightness."
