I purchased this being a fan of sony and was very disappointed, I returned it to the store. I have a sony vs1 and I love it but its on it's last legs, why is the new versions so bad?
The inellegent mode was aweful, grainy unfocused and the easy mode was even worse. No control over flash or iso.
In P mode you could adjust ok, but still could not get great photos. They had a lot of noice, looked grainy and shadowy, and were not sharp as I would expect from sony, as my previous camera is.
The camera itself was easy to navigate, buttons in good location a good feel to hold or use a tripod. It's very lightweight but looks like a solid camera.
The pano feature is neat, but again a lot of noise and no adjustments in zoom, which makes it very limited. The time to pan a room was too short.
The Hd video was awesome! Definately an improvement from old video, next camera will have this feature.
I returned it to the store after a week of trial. Really wanted to keep it, as it was a nice looking and good feel camera, but at $600 not worth it!
Will try another camera, so overall I do not recommend the sony hx1, will consider trying another sony and hope to not be disappointed again.
