sashacat7's Full Review: Sony Cyber-shot® DSC-S600 Digital Camera
Like many others, I did a lot of research before settling on the Sony DSC-S600 to replace my old digital camera. I wish I had done more... While I love the size of the camera and ease of use, the battery life is just killing me. I don't use my camera every week - sometimes not even every month. Unfortunately, after a month of non-use the internal battery discharges and drops all your date/time settings. Sony's answer to this problem is that customers need to drop an additional $40 for an AC adapter and keep the camera plugged in when not in use. God forbid they allow the camera to charge through the supplied USB mini-cable.... This wouldn't be a crisis except that the battery consumption while in use is appalling. As another review stated, I've replaced the batteries in this camera more times than I've used it. I have to constantly carry extra batteries in the car and in my purse if I plan to use the camera. I haven't had a problem with the supplied internal memory and found no need for an additional memory stick as of yet, but then again I usually take small sized pictures and tend to download them immediately.
So, the bottom line is that I've been not at all happy with this camera, wouldn't recommend it to anyone and will end up replacing it because I'm tired of hauling around a package of batteries every time I need to take pictures. I rate this product a thumbs down and am very disappointed in Sony, which usually has a good reputation that warrants the extra money you pay for their products.
