What makes a perfect vacation camcorder, one that you can EASILY take with you EVERYWHERE. This camcorder fits the bill. It is worth it to pay the extra price for the size because once you use it, there will be times when you look back on your vacation and acknowledge that you would not have been able to take some rare footage if you hadn't had your camera with you. Over time, those rare footage will be priceless, all because your camcorder is small enough to bring everywhere.
Yes, the zoom and menu buttons might seem awkward at first to use, but you will need to get use to them. People with larger fingers will most likely take a longer time to adapt. The one feature that every review I've read seemed to have missed is the Clip Menu Playback search feature. This feature is the closest thing you get to "DVD Chapter" search functions. With this feature, you can search for your previous recording through menus with still clips, which makes it 10x easier to search for the exact place where you want to begin playback.
I bought this camcorder 3 months ago and took it over seas for my vacation. Yes, I did get some "rare" footage. Definitely worth it.
