Pros: Small, Sony, Small
Cons: Poor software, average movie quality.
The Bottom Line: Wait for other models Sony will develop. Nice size, but still room for improvement on quality, even if it's a Sony.

| sorinc23's Full Review: Sony Handycam DCR-IP5 Micro MV Camcorder |
I have the Sony IP5 camcorder and a bit of experience with it. First, the size is awesome: it really fits your pocket. The price is reasonable, but the overall quality is average.
The steady shot is just a name (you still get shaky movies) and the night vision is not very helpful either (it takes a long time to focus and the images are blurry).
The camera is OK for summer bright day usage, but don't use it inside or in low light.
Now if you want to be creative (I tried) with your movies, and creative means at least to edit your movies using a computer, you are out of luck. The worst crappy software is packaged with your lovely camcorder - MovieShaker 3.1 -.
Beware: before spending 5 hours to encode a 30 minutes film, make sure you have QuickTime 5 (not 4, not any later edition, but EXACTLY the one on enclosed CD), otherwise you don't get anything. This is where I don't get how a large corporation as Sony can produce a software that doesn't work.
The features allowed by this software are VERY limited, and it is the ONLY software you can use to capture movies. And did I mentioned the PROPRIETARY movie format MMV?? And average battery life? Also do not try to use it for digital photos. you will get 720x480 4-seconds movies. Waste of time.
