I own a TRV22, which is minidv, but I think it offers similar options to your camera. I think I bought it about 1 week before the CR article came out :(. You should be able to capture video and sound with the right software via USB, but many software packages don't seem to be able to pick up the sound via USB, at least that was my experience. I strongly recommend you get a firewire card and try it out, (though I still wonder if a 433mhz system will be up to the task). With a firewire card, you can transfer the digital video and audio directly to your hard drive, then worry about converting it to an mpeg file at whatever speed your system can handle (I'll bet it takes a day or more to convert a 1 hour dv file to mpg with a 433mhz system). How is the sound quality of your recordings, pick up muck background or camera noise with your recordings? Good luck with your camera.
