headrickj's Full Review: Sony Cyber-shot DSC-T2 Digital Camera
I bought this camera in Tokyo in November. It was the overseas version, i.e.: the one they will be selling in the States Dec 10, 2007. I am usually more methodic when I purchase electronics, especially cameras, but I leapt into this one and got bit hard. It is a magnificent looking camera, has a wonderful touch screen that works very well. I could list all kinds of nice things about this camera, but it is all for nothing because it takes horrible pictures!
I thought my first one was lemon, as I didn't think Sony could send such a poor quality product to the market. I exchanged it with almost certainty that I had just got the bad one in the batch. Well, my second one is just as bad. I really thought Sony was better than this. I have loved past Sony products, but this was my first Sony camera. It will definitely be the only Sony camera I ever own.
I have played with the settings and tried to get the most out of it with little or no success. All that really just defeats the purpose anyway. I was looking for a small point and shoot that would yield a picture as good or better than my larger 5.1 Canon I bought 5 years ago. Nothing seems to be able to top that camera, including the Olympus 790SW 7.1 mp (although the Olympus blows away this Sony T2 and it is water and shock proof to boot!) that I also recently purchased. Maybe my bar is too high, but I really don't think so. I also bought a much cheaper 3.1 MP Nikon compact about two years ago as a gift for a young person that made better images than this Sony T2. It really makes me sick to my stomach to think I am stuck with this paperweight.
