| Dbrain's Full Review: Sony DVP-S560D DVD Player |
The Sony DVP-S560D is everything that you can wish for in a DVD player and more.I will first start by saying that this unit has played every movie that I have played on it without a problem(at least 300),most of them have been rentals that are in less than perfect condition. Some of these rental Disks were pretty badly scuffed up and yet the unit played them flawlessly. This is a very severe test of any DVD player, or for that matter any digital format! The only thing I found That was a little slow are the layer changes that take place in movies like the "gladiator" and many other dual layer Disks. But this is really not a flaw in the unit as almost every other unit in the market does this on layer changes. Even the owners manual says to expect it. The unit has a very large assortment of features for this price range.Starting with its smooth scan capability and multi speed scan,Frame advance and digital freeze frame. It also has "DVE" or digital Video Enhancement, this feature allows you to really customize the image the unit puts out to the TV That you use.It also has virtual 3D sound setting for those who have yet to invest in a full Surround Sound system,But it also works with older movies that lack Surround sound. The unit has both Optic And coaxle digital outputs as well as discrete 6 channel outputs for its built in Dolby Digital Decoder which itself has a large amount of audio settings for you to choose from. The unit will Allow A "DTS" signal through it but it will not decode it.For this you will need a DTS ready receiver or external decoder. The unit has a built in headphone jack which is a nice touch. The slim case design saves space as well as being appealing to the eye. The remote control that it brings is also much better than the other units I sampled from other name brands. At the price these units sell for you really cant go wrong with the DVP-560D. If you Want to make the most of your Home surround sound budget, than this is a very good way to go,why settle for a stripped down to the bone unit, when you can have a full featured unit like this Sony DVP-560D for the same price, Sometimes even less if you are a good shopper.
