Ok... so you're in the electronics store. Radio Shack or maybe just the electronic section of Wal-Mart, but if you're anything like me, you're completely overwhelmed. There are way too many CD players to choose from. Why is that one an extra $50? What is electronic shock protection? What brands are reliable?
You caught me...I can't answer your questions. If you want the honest reason I bought this particular CD player it's because it's pretty, moderately priced, and I had actually heard of Sony.
I am no authority on electronics, but as an average consumer, I can tell you why I like this CD player. I have dropped this thing more times than I can possibly remember, and nothing has happened to it! That is completely amazing if you know me... Something you might care more about is that is doesn't devour batteries. I listen constantly and replace the batteries maybe once every three months. And, unlike my old CD player, it only take 2 batteries...but that other one was REALLY old!
Basically, I have had this CD player for over a year and I really don't have anything bad to say about it. It's really slim, light weight, comes in nice colors, is not outlandishly expensive, doesn't eat batteries, and is "drop" resistant!
