When looking for a portable cd discman i thought why not go to the people who invented the things. So i did, this Sony discman is great.
The playback features of this portable are extreemly good, it has all the usualy, repeat program shuffle, but it also has this nifty feature where you can loop a certain cetion of a song and just play it over and over and over... i actually never use that function but it is cool.
The sound is great in the EQ's flat and Mega Bass position, but when Groove is turned on the bass becomes a little too much to handle.
The backlit remote is great, you can control the whole unit from there. It has a hold function do you don't accidentialy interupt play and it has a realy good clip on the back of the remote so you can clip it onto your shirt.
I haven't yet used the rechargeble batteries supplied because normal batteries last alot longer, about 20hrs as opposed to 15-16hrs for the rechargable Ni-Mh batteries.
The anti skip is very good. You have to shake it from side to side and up and down a fair bit to make it skip, but it still does occaisionly. It's of no concearn though.
This discman is extreemly thin, about that of one and a half cd boxes thick! The display on the main unit is well set out,clear and easy to read. The buttons are small and very neatly positioned. It comes with a great soft pouch to carry it in.. i hardly ever take it out of the pouch, only ever to change cd's. Other than that the remote is so easy to use, and being backlit makes it extreemly easy to see. Maybe oneday i will invest in a Mini Disc portable recorder, if i do this discman has optical digital out, specially for recording to a MD recorder.
Overall i am so happy with my Sony Discman. It sound's great, it looks great and has great features and functionality what more could you ask for.
