I've had many problems over the past 5 years or so with portable cd players, and decided to get a more rugged one that would be better for running with. at first, I was very happy with the unit. However, as time went on my satisfaction dropped. Sony advertises the fact that this unit should be used by joggers because of the player's special anti-skip protections. I cannot jog with this player, because it does nothing but skip. The age of the batteries has no effect either, as I've tried brand new ones. I'm sure if you're reading this epinion, you're at least entertaining the idea of running with the player. My advice: get an mp3 player. Recently, the display has begun to go(I've had the unit for just over a year). Various portions of the display fade in and out. I'm told this is usually caused by leaving the player in a cold car, or other cold environment, but it started to fail in Minnesota in the summer. (and no, I didn't leave it in a hot car either) Audio performance hasn't been affected thus far. I did find out that to fix the display, it would cost approximately $75 USD.
Overall, I would say _avoid_ this product at all costs. Sony advertises this player as a rugged unit that works especially well for runners and the like. I've found out (the hard way) the exact opposite.
