Pros: Great price, easy to use, sounds great, a powered sub-woofer, lots of features,
Cons: not enough digital hook-ups. No A/B speaker switch.
The Bottom Line: Man this is a sweet system, I do not regret the purchase one bit.

I bought this around Christmas '02, so I'm familiar with this system, it's not an initial impression review.
This is a great system. It sounds great, easy to set up, has a lot of component hook-ups, unfortunately it is a bit short on the digital hook-ups. For a $350 system, you can't expect features of a higher end unit.
The one thing that I really wish this had was a connection for a second set of speakers, not necessarily a satellite speaker system, but at least another left/right so I could power some speakers in another part of my house without a secondary splitter.
Again, for a system with this price, you can't have it all, and the HT-DDW840 is more feature filled than most other systems at this price level.
I have connected; a satellite receiver, a XBox, a Sony DVD player, and a VCR.
Man this is a sweet system, I do not regret the purchase one bit.
