| randomaccess's Full Review: Sony Ericsson KF-788 Cell Phone |
The Ericsson KF788 is a great performer in a suprisingly small package. This if my fourth phone, and by far the best of the lot. It is small, lightweight, and fits easily in a jacket pocket. I find that the belt clip is great for clipping it to an edge a casual jacket pocket.
The phone is easy to set up and use. The charger plugs into a small opening at the bottom of the phone. The dealer recommended an overnite charge for the first time. The user manual recommends running the phone down several times to condition the battery.
The phone is rated for 43 hours standby and 1.75 hours talk time. I am finding that I get about 30 hours standby. This will vary depending on the mix of hours and talk time.
Recharging the phone is quick, normally taking less then 3 hours. For me this eliminated the need for a second battery, but a heavy user may want to look into a second battery or a phone with longer talk time.
Programming the phone is straightforward. As with most other phones, there is a built in phone book, speed dial numbers, and super speed dial numbers which only require pushing one button to dial. Once you get used to using one key for up to 3 letters, you can actually start entering information pretty quickly.
Voice quality is very good, and I seem to get better reception then with my previous phone, which was also an Ericcson, but 3 years old.
Depending on your carrier, you can get this phone at a very reasonable price, possibly for only a token payment, so it pays to shop around.
