This phone is pretty good. Call quality, when in an area with coverage (don't get me started on AT&T coverage in Boulder). CDPD web pages can be hard to read on the small screen, but it's plenty good enough for weather reports.
The ringer can be set from quiet to damn-that's-loud, and you can program in your own ringtones using a two-octave scale, just make sure to turn the ringer off in church if you program in the Exorcist theme :-) Unfortunately, no vibrate function, but you can get an attachment that clips onto the bottom if you need vibrate. You can't plug the power brick in thru the vibrating attachment, tho.
I had one of these for about 6 months. It would 'crash' occasionally--the thing would just completely freeze, clock and all, and ignore the keypad. It did it maybe once every 3 weeks or so, but i missed an important call due to that and called AT&T for a warranty replacement. The replacement worked for 3 days. It then began to do the same crashing routine, except every half hour. Back it went. The third phone had a defective radio unit and couldn't lock a signal where i knew there was a strong signal (because the other two had worked there). I sent it back and got a Motorola Talkabout off eBay. PocketNet didn't work in Boulder anyway.
I have a few friends who have had this phone. One had the same amount of trouble I did, but the rest have had no problems whatsoever since day 1.
It seems to me that Ericsson's quality control was a bit lacking when these were made.
