| anastacya's Full Review: Sony Ericsson R280LX Cell Phone |
I bought this product because I didn't pay anything for it. I wanted something to carry with me on the go, and something that was small, had a good service plan, and most importantly, would accept my credit to get in the first place. So while browsing the website www.buy.com this past October, I saw FREE and clicked on the link, not really sure of what I was getting into. Needless to say I followed it through and am now a happy cell phone holder.
First of all, before I say anything about the phone, I must say that my wireless service provider AT&T has GREAT customer service and is always willing to help. For the college kid or just someone who wants a phone without a lot of minutes and not long distance, this is the phone for you.
The phone came shipped to me, already activated and ready to rock-n-roll. It was a little confusing at first, trying to figure out how to turn it on (you have to hold down the No button), but after that, it was very simple to figure out and I would say easy to use. I was able to program in phone numbers with relative ease, and my phone calls are all very clear. The menu options are easy to scroll through, and the multitude of ringers is both amusing and great for someone who is around a multiple-cell-phone environment.
The Ericsson phone is awesome as well in how fast it charges. It doesn't take long for it to have a decent charge for a quick run to the supermarket, or even to run to a friend's house. I would say less than an hour. The only true downside to this phone is the odd adapter shape and thus, expensive accessories for the phone should you decide to purchase any above and beyond what comes with your starter package. Although the leather case I purchased was $14, a car adapter is about $25-$50, depending on where you shop. An earpiece is about $25 and a hands-free kit for your vehicle runs about $30 as well. So if you want the convenience of hands-free, be willing to spend a bit more than the average cell phone. Other than that, I really have no complaints.
I purchased one of these phones for my mother for Christmas, and she was able to figure it out right away. The web-enabled feature of the phone is really something I cannot comment on, as I really don't use it. I do know that the wireless plan I have offers unlimited internet access, so when I decide to sit down and play with it, I will let you know.
In all, this phone is perfect for anyone. As a multi-purpose or just a on-the-go, I highly recommend it.
