Pros: Affordable, sounds great, great base for a modular system.
Cons: A bit chunky.
The Bottom Line: Anybody who needs a flexible, mid-level modular stereo system will love the Sony HT-1300D. It accommodates most modular components and produces great sound.

| kerouazy25's Full Review: Sony HT-1300D Theater System |
For the price, I don't think any manufacturer produces a home theater system with so many features. As opposed to Sony's single-unit dream systems, The HT-1300D is a two-unit system with a receiver and a DVD player. Both units are approximately 17 inches wide and twelve inches deep. It also came with a 550-watt, surround sound speaker set. The five satellite speakers are approximately 4x3x3.5, and the sub-woofer is about a cubic foot.
The system sounds great when watching movies or playing video games. Since it has Dolby Digital and DTS decoding capabilities, it feels like action is going on all around you. Very cool.
The receiver also has a full range of inputs for any kind of modular stereo equipment I can imagine. It also has 2 optical inputs and a coaxial sound input. I highly suggest the optical inputs.
I paid approximately $530 for the system at a local electronics store, and I expect it to last several years. I think it was well worth the money, and I would recommend the system to anybody.
