Sometimes the "30 day" versions have limitations. That may or may not be the problem. You'll have to read the fine print. Hope you find something that works for you.

I was very frustrated with my camera because I couldnt view or record videos on my computer. Cheap software included in the package obviously does not work. So I am very glad I read your review and found a good advice: "using Ulead's DVD Movie Factory and Video Magic software". I downloaded their free 30 day trial version and it WORKS! I can see and record live video or record previously recorded videos from the camera.
Right now I face another problem though - those recorded files wont play on any player on my computer exept Ulead's player. I hope somebody can help. Thanks.

Thanks Kate,
We just got back from Italy last night! What a great 2 weeks. The camera worked flawlessly. Now I have the fun of editing hours of video! ;-) Hope you have a good trip.

I have been shopping for an inexpensive camcorder for family and vacation videos. This was a very helpful review, especially in delineating the differences between the HC20 and the HC21. It helped me firm up my decision to go with this camcorder. Thanks!
