A good HDTV for the money

There are so many choices for HDTV's today, and they all seem pretty good. We got a recommendation from a friend on the Mitsubishi LT46146. We had it for 2 weeks before it developed a problem. So, we returned it for a refund.
We had to start our search all over. We considered LG, Sony, and even Mitsubishi. We did really liked the picture quality of the Mitsubishi a lot, but were unwilling to gamble $2,000 that we might have the same problem again. So we decided on the Sony, which we have had good luck with on many other products in the past. The 46W4150 model had good picture quality, and a some nice features. This model offered 120Hz technology which helped with the smoothness of action/motion scenes.
The rear input/output connectors were conveniently located outside the mounting hole pattern for easy access, once the tv was installed. Initial setup and programming was very easy compared to the Mitsubishi. And it is easy to change wide screen/zoom/normal format to suit your tastes.
You can make some adjustments to the display to suit your taste and room characteristics. The Sony was not quite as "tweekable" as the Mitsubishi, but adequate. We haven't figured out what the difference between the 46W4150 and the 46W4100 is. The sales person indicated it was an "upgrade to the bezel finish". But we can't see a difference, and don't think we paid any more for it.
The transparent window between the bottom of the LCD and the very bottom on the bezel is a bit distracting, since you can sometimes notice the cables behind it. To our tastes, we would have preferred an opaque panel there, if that space was required at all. We do like that you can choose to have the Sony logo either illuminated or dark, if you find that distracting.
We would have also prefered a USB or memory slot, for digital photo viewing capability, as well as an S-video input on the side panel as a temporary input from a computer.
All in all we have been very happy with this TV. We haven't really taken advantage of the 1080P yet. But while watching the standard verion of the new Tinkerbell movie, we've found the picture quality is breathtaking. Football game action is smooth as silk to boot.
