pduggan's Full Review: Sony Class Grand WEGA A series SXRD KDS-55A2020 55...
With its 1080P resolution (1080 vertical lines, Progressive scan) this Sony SXRD projection television cannot be surpassed. The 50" and 60" versions are identical except for screen and cabinet size.
The picture is perfect, its wide variety of inputs allows optimization of signal source and the remote control provides clear and easy to use adjustments, although none were needed out of the box.
SXRD, the Sony version of LCD projection technology, provides a bright, clear picture in any ambient light conditions.
The fan noise, mentioned in other reviews, was inaudible. This product has the first clear and useful manual from Sony that I have seen.
Circuit City had a good price and prompt, courteous delivery. But beware the sales pitches for extended warranty, high-performance cables, power surge suppressors and television stands. Just say no. You may have to say no several times.
Sony provides a better five year warranty on their Web site at a lower price ($ 250 vs. $ 700) and WalMart has all of the cables, power surge suppressors and television stands you need at a fraction of Circuit City prices.
Prices vary widely so search dealers for best prices. I found better prices from brick and mortar retailers when delivery charges were considered. And delivery from such dealers assures out of the box operation.
Sony seems to be offering incentives now (July 2007).
