Before I purchase this headphone, I have done some research online on this model. I saw many complains about its "hissing" sound when using the noise cancellation function, and one of the earbud stop working after a while.
At beginning I thought it must be some very small hissing sound that average users can barely notices and if I take extra care, the earbud will just be fine. Unfortunately, after I bought it for about 6 months (3/13~9/14), its right earbud stopped working. As for the hissing sound, it is very obvious, and for most of time, I have the noise cancellation function turned off. The hissing noise can be minimized if you turned up your music. However, during the silence between music tracks, you still hear the operating hissing sound. When there are low frequency noises present, the noise cancellation function is not making much of difference, so I hear both the hissing sound and the noise.
After I found out my headphone stop working, it is already 6 months, which is passed 90 days of warranty period. (Not at least a year) Sony offers an exchange program that you pay about half of it original price, in exchange for a refurbish one.
However, the headphone isolates the noise well and a good design. The battery life is very good, too. The sound quality is average.
