Cons: Heavy, software, earphone jack gave out in +/- one year
The Bottom Line: Sony is trying to revive their md-players but it really is not worth investing your money in since there are many better options that are not md-players and sony-software

I did read reviews on this product and they were indeed raving. So I decided to give it a try. I was quite happy with this player in the beginning. However, one thing that worried me was the joystick control that "overextended" after about half a year. I thought this would be the first thing to go, but evidently I was wrong. I will not elaborate on the usual complaints most people have about the software, but it suffice to say that it sucks and it really is ridiculous and gave me a icky feeling. I "checked out" all my music though and left it at that.
So really, I haven't used the recording option since I first got the player. It might still work... However I will only be able to hear it from one side of my earphones. Unfortunately my earphone jack got slightly ruined, for whatever reason. I did not use it for any rough sports, maybe some rollerblading to work, but that would be the worst. I used it just as a day to day, subway in and out, kinda thing. There really wasn't any reason for the jack to fail, but it did. It really annoyed me and I am looking into abondening the MD's and switching to cd's. Much cheaper to buy (both the cd and the players) and by far better quality.
I will, however, steer clear of Sony with their ridiculous software. I have some other appliances from sony that seem to be doing all right, but this whole experience really made me think twice about how sony's quality (or lack thereof) is progressing over the years.
