| pruthvi's Full Review: Sony DVP-PQ1 Portable DVD Player without Screen |
I bought this mainly because of its compact design and it's by Sony. What a mistake!
I first bought a Daewoo for almost half the price of this Sony, and it had twice as many features as this one. I had to return the Daewoo because it had an occasional video-audio synch issue when playing VideoCDs.
The Sony doesn't have that problem but it pretty much doesn't have any feature at all. Forget component video or optical audio out, it has no LED display! The SonyStyle website claims it has "Playback Memory (40 disc)". Don't believe it! This player doesn't even have proper resume play.
If you have to turn the power off in the middle of a movie, next time when you play, it starts from the beginning. VERY ANNOYING!!! My three-year-old, early model, basic Sony DVD player had proper resume feature.
But it has some gimmicks like interchangable faceplates. If this is targeted towards Gen-Yers as I read, then Sony must think think they are stupid.
I learned to not to trust Sony products just because it's by Sony.
$150 for this junk? Save it!
