Yeah the PS3 still has the cheapest bluray player on the market. As for Microsoft, they're so big and spread out, I tend to throw support into areas which I agree with their methodology. For instance, I won't buy a Windows server product, Office, a Zune, or Vista. But I don't mind XP, and the Xbox 360 is doing more right things than wrong especially when compared to the other consoles.

Thanks for a very nice review kjell1979 !! (Reply to this comment)

It must have taken you a long time to write this one. I also have to say that having the BlueRay player will be a huge factor when we decide. DDR (Dance Revolution, if I have that right) is also a must for the new console. I have a XBox and am happy with it but it is with no joy to be supporting Microsoft but that is a issue I only mention to second another reviewers comment and should know better and keep my politics to myself.

Yeah if it wasn't for the used 20GB models being so affordable at the time, I would be in the same boat too. That and I already had an Xbox 360. I just hate investing a ton of time into a game on the Xbox 360 only to have the RRoD happen and have it taken away for another month. That stinks.

I choose the 360 over the PS3 because there wasne't anything that seem intresting on the PS3 that wasen't on the 360. Add in the final insult was when Sony finally made a unit that was affordable but they drop the PS2 game support for it, at that point I decided Xbox was the system for me. Has for the Wii they are slowly starting to get the games they need and the attach rate is gradually going up.

Re: PS3 (Reply to this comment)

Luckily, my PS2 still runs great and it's now in the kids' room.
Mine was running fine when I put it on Ebay, but I figured I was just buying time before it finally bought it. That and the PS3s seem rather sturdy. Seems that they'll last for a while.
I know they are running third, but it's a long term strategy that I hope works out for them. The Blu-ray was definitely a big part of my decision. I've never owned an XBOX and just don't like supporting Microsoft in general.
Bluray winning the format war sold it for my wife. It was the day which the last major movie company dropped HD-DVD when I approached my wife about getting one.
I am looking forward to the new MLB 08 though. It looks really nice.
Yeah it's a good franchise. Though I really miss the MVP series. 2K has been mailing in their baseball games for the past couple years like no one's business and it's really depressing.

PS3 (Reply to this comment)

I didn't even think about getting an PS3 until I got my HD TV. And after that, it was a must. I have the 40 gig version which means I don't have the backwards compatibility. Luckily, my PS2 still runs great and it's now in the kids' room.
