dylanmeyer's Full Review: Sony Playstation 3 (80 GB) Black Console
There are many reasons I decided to buy a Sony ps3 over the other systems out there. A few of the main reasons are: -It is also a blu-ray player -Free online play (no subscription cost) -Best graphics -Bluetooth compatible
It is a bit more expensive than other systems, but for me, it was worth it. If you play online, it somewhat pays for itself. On the xbox 360 you have to pay a subscription fee to play online, which is $50 for twelve months. That would add up after a while, and you would really end up spending more. Also, it is convienant to not have to pay to go online. If you don't play online very often, it is not worth it to pay money, so you would be missing out on the online play. Overall, what I'm saying is, it costs money to play online on the xbox, but it is free on the ps3.
I have had no problems with it breaking or anything. I have friends with xbox 360's, and they seem to have problems with them breaking. Many people who have xbox 360s end up having to send them in for service, which is quite annoying.
The blu-ray player is definitely a useful addition. Blu-ray is the newest technology in HD movies/games. It has the best sound and picture quality available on the market. If you are going to buy a good blu-ray player, it will cost you $200 or more. The ps3 is a blu-ray player, so along with it being good for gaming, you will be able to enjoy the highest quality movies possible also. If you plan on buying a blu-ray player eventually, that pretty much makes the ps3 the best choice for you.
The system is $400 for the 80gb version at the moment. There are talks of lowering the price to around $300 very soon, so you might want to wait it out for a little while if you plan on buying one.
The system isn't the smallest available. It is rounded, so you can't stack anything on top of it. But, you can stand it up or lay it down horizontally. If you dont have very much space, it may not be the best choice. It measures 12.8 inches wide by 3.8 inches high by 10.8 inches long when lying horizontally.
It is meant for use with a 1080p or 1080i HD tv for the best results. It can be used with standard non-hd tv's also, but the graphics will not be as good. Also, you will need an HDMI cable for the best picture, which can be found for about $5 from amazon.com.
The controllers are the same as the past two playstations. They are confortable, and also come with motion sensor technology now. This motion sensor is not used in many games, but some of them use it. The controllers charge through the two USB ports on the system with the included USB cable. You can use up to 7 controllers at a time with the ps3.
The ps3 also is a muli-media device. You can use it to surf the internet, store pictures, movies, videos, and music. It has 80gb of storage, so you can store plenty of data on it.
It is very easy to navigate. The dashboard is very simple and bluntly labled, so anyone can figure out how it works. It has categories like: Game, Video, Music, Photos, Internet, PS store...
There are quite a few games, and more are being made. Here is a list: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_PlayStation_3_games
The graphics and sounds of the ps3 are the best on the market. With a nice TV, Sound sistem and HDMI cable, you will be amazed.
Unless you really like halo, or want the Wii for its motion controlled cotrollers, I would check out the ps3...you won't be disappointed!
