"Now, if only I could program it to bring me a beer," said my husband.

Product Rating:
Pros: Controls up to 18 devices, easily programmable, great bragging rights for husbands!
Cons: Very large, heavy, awkward-feeling. Drastically over-priced in well-known electronics retailers.
The Bottom Line: Great gift for guys, or anyone who likes new gadgets and toys. Performs exceptionally well with all of our home theater components, which are all different brands.
kristen0421's Full Review: Sony RM-AV3000 LCD Touchscreen Remote Control
After agonizing for a month over what to get my dear husband for a second wedding anniversary gift, a close friend told me about this incredible universal remote control. She warned me that it was quite pricey (retails for about $200 at Circuit City and Best Buy), but promised that my husband would love it. I was able to get a great deal on a brand new remote on eBay, and wrapped it up and presented it to my husband on our anniversary.
What we like...
My husband was thrilled with the purchase; he loves that he is so easily able to program the remote to control all of our home theater components, all of our favorite channels, and the fact that it even works with our digital cable (none of the other universal remotes we tried in the past were able to do that). As he so eloquently puts it, it does everything but bring him a beer. I love the fact that we no longer have to keep up with 5 or 6 remote controls, one for each device we own; I am a bit of a neat freak, so the less clutter, the better.
What we don't like...
The touchscreen is a cool component, but, as many will report, it does get dirty with fingerprints quite easily, and is super sensitive; it can also be difficult to read the touchscreen, but the backlighting does help. Backlighting does not stay on long enough. Would be nice if the buttons were backlit as well. The size of the remote makes it heavy and a bit awkward to handle; I think that perhaps if Sony would manufacture a remote with all of the capabilities of the RM AV3000 but with EITHER buttons OR touchscreen, this would help the size and awkward feel of the remote. Retail price is often outrageous; I recommend looking for one on auction sites or online retailers.
