| mrcleano's Full Review: Sony RM-AV3000 LCD Touchscreen Remote Control |
A friend of mine introduced me to this remote a few weeks ago and I was amazed at how practical and easy it was to operate. At first it looks complicated and the first question that comes to mind is compatibility with non-Sony products, but once you read the simple directions and play your hand at programming a remote, it's as simple as apple pie.
In my entertainment system I have a Toshiba TV, Denon stereo receiver, motorola cable box and an xbox. After 45 minutes I was able to program every controller successfully and toss my old remotes in the drawer. It's sweet. Only 1 remote, I even have my fan programmed to this thing.
If you do have any Sony products, they're already pre-programmed.
The coolest feature of the RM-AV3000 is that you can program macros to buttons so you have the ability to make one button turn on everything in your entertainment center, and another to turn everything off.
Also, when programming unique appliances such as my fan, you can rename buttons on the LCD display to read "Breeze", "Rotate", etc. It's very customizable and intuitive.
I can't find anything annoying or wrong with this product. It does everything you expect it to and more. For anyone who fears they may not be tech-savvy enough to handle this toy, don't fret, there's a very thick detailed instruction booklet included as well as a short quick start tutorial.
For the price of $80, it was very well worth it.
