| jllofton76's Full Review: Sony RM-AV3000 LCD Touchscreen Remote Control |
First off, I have to say that a year ago I thought the hubby was crazy for spending $100 on a remote but, like the Roomba, it was worth it. It's a very cool looking remote and does everything Sony says it does. My hubby has lots of gadgets from various manufacturers so a universal remote is a must in our house. Every other universal remote we've had was always short at least 1 component so we still had to use another remote. With the Commander, we only need the 1 remote. It controls our Panasonic TV, RCA DVD player, Harman/Kardon reciever, and our cable box. It was a snap to "learn" other remote functions but the manual for the Commander is a bit lengthy. I haven't attempted to program macros yet but I will someday when I have time to read the manual again. The backlight is bright and the screen is pretty sensitive so you don't have to mash down the on-screen buttons. The best part is not having to reprogram the remote every time you replace the batteries. The signal from the remote seems to be very strong as I can stand at different angles and not have a problem using it. It also is very sturdy, having been tossed around by 2 kids and not even getting a scratch on it. All in all, it's not really as complicated as it looks and it definitely was a good investment.
