Pros: Very programmable, Good Battery Life, Good price for what it does, Looks cool.
Cons: Weight, Size, a few minor glitches.
The Bottom Line: Definitely a good solid product. It's been around for a while so I would recommend checking out some of the other newer units before buying.

| doctorstrobe's Full Review: Sony RM-AV3000 LCD Touchscreen Remote Control |
I went looking for an integrated remote for a few reasons:
1) Fumbling with 3 remotes just to watch a DVD was getting tiring.
2) The gadget factor.
I considered a few other remotes before choosing the Sony. (Philips, Kenwood, Sima...) They Sony was attractive because It had a lot of features for the price ($125), so I purchased one.
I have been using the RM-AV3000 for 4 or 5 months now and would have to say that I am happy with my decision.
Likes:
1) System Control Macro functions make it easy to set up my TV, AV receiver and DVD player when I want to watch a DVD. Previously I had to pick up 3 different remotes to do this.
2) Battery life is excellent. I'm using NIMH rechargeable batteries which last about 2 months before needing a re-charge.
3) Buttons can be re-programmed to perform whatever function I wish.
4) Volume control can be set to control my AV receiver volume regardless of which component is selected.
Dislikes:
1) It is rather large for a remote control, and a bit heavy also.
2) There is a slight problem when it powers up my Sony AV receiver using the System Control Macro. It turns it on, but then turns it right off again. The RM-AV3000 did not come pre-programmed for this Sony Receiver (STR-DE685) so I had to program the functions in manually. Perhaps I made a mistake during the programming that is causing this problem.
3) The clock must be re-set every time the batteries are changed.
If I were buying an integrated remote today I would probably take a look at a few of the newer remotes that have come out recently. Sony has a smaller, more 'remote-like' unit now, and that one that Radio Shack sells with the glowing keypad looks interesting.
The RM-AV3000 would still be high on my list however.
