Pros: Very good picture and sound,on SP speed, for a VCR. Easy to use.
Cons: FAIR picture on EP speed. Price. Best on high quality tapes.
The Bottom Line: If you like many features, and don't do much EP recording, this unit may be a good choice . If price is also a factor, consider the SONY SLV-N55.

| wisebuy's Full Review: Sony SLV-N99 VHS VCR |
This unit is fine, but not outstanding, as its price might suggest. For best quality you need high quality tapes. The EP speed produces only a fair picture, which is surprising for a VCR at this price. My eight year old VCR made better tapes on EP. However, on SP speed, using quality tapes, the picture and sound ( thru my stereo) was the best I've seen on VCR format. Reality enhancement does improve picture quality, SLIGHTLY , on some prerecorded tapes (despite Sony's and salesman's extreme claims). VCR is very easy to use.The one hour power outage backup is great (saves all your programming). The manual is a bit complicated. You would have to decide if its features, and fair EP speed quality would warrant the extra cost compared to the Sony SLV-55N , or other models,
